LEADERSHIP RETREAT – June 25th, 2010
Elite Performance's 2010 Leadership Training Retreat will be held June 25th at the luxurious Bellevue Hilton. Our Leadership Training Retreats are for dance team officers, leaders, seniors and other members who are in a position of leadership on your team. Sessions are both dance floor and classroom settings and designed to equip your leaders with the necessary tools for a successful year. We strongly believe in training young leaders to be affective both on dance team, in their school, families and communities. LEADERSHIP RETREAT CURRICULUM
Some of the below classes are designed for officer squad's only. Sr.'s and other leaders will have other classes offered to them in lieu of the officer classes.
FUNDAMENTALS ROUTINE
This routine will have many of your basic dance technique elements and will be a wonderful way to start off our leadership retreat. Your leaders will have the opportunity to perfect this routine at night, utilizing the skills taught in the perfecting class earlier that day. It will be shown the next day and evaluated.
HOME ROUTINE
We invite each officer squad, Sr.’s, and leaders to bring their choice of team, ensemble, solo, or any combination of performance you would like to show the first night of camp. This is a time to show off each squad/leaders talents, favorite styles and costumes. Performance opportunities like this are great for your officer squad’s confidence as well as any leader on your team.
CHOREOGRAPHY SESSION
These sessions are designed to improve the choreography skills of each individual dancer and to be an initiator in seeking how your squad works together in this setting. You will be gaining instruction and advice from experienced choreographers that come from various backgrounds. Sessions will be in an interactive classroom setting and out on the dance floor as well. Your squad will have the opportunity to choreograph a short routine and perform it in front of the rest of the campers.
TEACHING AND PERFECTING SESSION
Your officer squad will learn how to teach and perfect a routine in an effective way. As coaches, we know how important it is to have leaders on your team who can both teach and perfect. After this session, our hope is that each leader will feel more confident in this area of teaching and perfecting.
CORE LEADERSHIP SESSIONS
These sessions will be held out on the dance floor and in a classroom setting. At Elite, we believe that coaches are our biggest resource. Therefore, we’ve spoken with coaches around the Washington area and created a core session curriculum that fits the needs of Washington dance teams. Some of our core session topics include; how to run an efficient practice, communication and conflict resolution, affirmation and positive reinforcement, actions outside of dance team, how to gain respect and more.
SPEAKERS
Our experts in leadership will teach many of the core leadership sessions. They will inspire and prep your leaders to be affective and influential leaders on your team.
FEEDBACK FOR DANCERS
We believe that honest and constructive feedback to each dancer is vital for improvement. This time allows the instructors to give individual feedback to all participants. Evaluations will be held for the fundamentals routine taught in the morning on the first day of the leadership retreat.
AWARDS
We love awards here at Elite and want to recognize the hard work of our dancers. Awards will be given out throughout the leadership day and at the end of camp.
